81-Year-Old Goes Missing In The Woods. 40 Minutes Later, They See Her Holding His Hand…

Maryland Cop Photographed Helping An 81-Year-Old Find Her Way Home

It’s easy for someone with dementia to forget important details in their everyday life.

Whether it’s duties that were once second nature to them, or even members of their family, there are certain memories that start to fade away as the disease progresses.

Getting lost is another concern, even if it’s within the very neighborhood in which they live. That was the case for an 81-year-old woman, whose daughter called the Charles County Sheriff’s Office to report her missing. The elderly woman took her usual daily walk up and down the driveway, but never came back into the house.

Officers from the department in La Plata, MD, immediately sprang into action. Officers DeBoe, Caywood, and Morrison, Sgt. Black, and Cpl. Clevenger along with his K9 partner, began looking throughout the wooded area.

Thankfully, the officers found her 40 minutes later. But, it’s the heartwarming gesture of Officer Morrison that’s made this specific moment go viral.

“Officers encounter different situations every day. Some good, some not so good. In this case, a frightening situation for the family ended happily. For that, they were thankful. For us, it’s the rewarding part of policing,” the Charles County Sheriff’s Office wrote on Facebook along with the touching photo.

“At first, she seemed confused at the sudden appearance of police officers on the tree-lined trail, and she asked if the officers were out taking a walk, too. They quietly replied ‘Yes,’ after all, it was a beautiful day. And then she seemed relieved and told them she had lost her way. ‘No problem,’ said Officer Morrison who then gently took her hand and along with the other officers walked her back to her house. Along the way, the officers made small talk with the woman, to make her feel at ease,” the department explained on Facebook.

“When asked what the key to a long, healthy life was, the woman replied, ‘Eat good and stay active.’”

Man Overhears A Dad Say Something Very Strange To His Daughter. Its Meaning? Wow!

Every family has sayings, parables, prayers, and bits of wisdom that they’ve passed down through the generations. And these nuggets of wisdom are often what gets us through the hard times. They’re the words our grandmother says when she’s holding us in her arms. They’re what our mom says to us on the phone when we feel lonely. And even when we are alone, these family sayings are what we remember when we need to cheer ourselves up.

In this story, a man overhears a father bidding his daughter farewell at the airport. The father’s words are touching, but they include one phrase that doesn’t quite make sense. Intrigued, the man politely asks the dad about what he said. The answer is a bit of family wisdom—a wish really—that we could all benefit from. Read the man’s beautiful words in the story below. May they give you strength!

“Recently, I overheard a father and daughter in their last moments together. They had announced her departure and standing near the security gate, they hugged and he said, ‘I love you. I wish you enough.’

She in turn said, ‘Daddy, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Daddy.’

They kissed and she left. He walked over toward the window where I was seated. Standing there, I could see he wanted and needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on his privacy, but he welcomed me in by asking, ‘Did you ever say goodbye to someone knowing it would be forever?’

‘Yes, I have,’ I replied. Saying that brought back memories I had of expressing my love and appreciation for all my Dad had done for me. Recognizing that his days were limited, I took the time to tell him face to face how much he meant to me.

So, I knew what this man experiencing.

‘Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever goodbye?’ I asked.

‘I am old and she lives much too far away. I have challenges ahead and the reality is, the next trip back would be for my funeral,’ he said.

‘When you were saying goodbye, I heard you say, “I wish you enough.” May I ask what that means?’

He began to smile. ‘That’s a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone.’ He paused for a moment and looking up as if trying to remember it in detail, he smiled even more. ‘When we said “I wish you enough,” we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them,’ he continued and then turning toward me, he shared the following as if he were reciting it from memory.

‘I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish enough hellos to get you through the final goodbye.’

He then began to sob and walked away.”

He Uses Vinegar To Kill Weeds – His Other Organic Garden Tips Can Help Everyone

Natural Ways To Kill Garden Weeds

Weeds are a gardener’s worst nightmare! They sneak up and creep in where they don’t belong, causing havoc with precious plants. Make those pesky little weeds go away for good with these natural tips.

Do It By Hand

The simplest and most time honored way to remove weeds is to do it by hand. A trowel comes in handy to pre-loosen the soil, which makes it easier to pull the weeds out. Also, be sure to wear a special pair of gardening gloves so that you don’t transfer the seeds elsewhere.

Use Mulch

Mulch packs a double whammy against weeds! A heavy layer of mulch prevents sunlight from reaching the soil. Those poor little weed seeds that are living underground just won’t germinate without sunlight! Mulch also prevents stray seeds from even getting into the soil in the first place.

Nice Hot Bath

Don’t just give the weeds any old hot bath, but make it boiling hot! Take a boiling kettle of water outside and introduce those darling little weeds to a scalding stream of water. Ouch! Pour it around the crown of the plant, and that’s one weed you’ll never have to introduce yourself to again.

Sprinkle With Salt

Much like in humans, salt disrupts the internal water balance of cells and will cause the weeds to dehydrate. Using salt to kill weeds works best in small gardens that have plenty of rainfall which will eventually dilute the salt. This is important because large quantities of salt that aren’t diluted by water can disrupt the soil balance and then it won’t be able to support plant growth. Start with a 3:1 ratio of salt to water and target the weed plant only!

Grab A Newspaper

After you’re done with the morning newspaper, pile it around the plants you want to be weed-free. It works in much the same way as mulch, by blocking sunlight from reaching the seeds lurking in the ground. Wet both the ground and newspaper, then apply a light layer of mulch to smother those weeds for good!

Spray Some Vinegar

This is the weed killer your grandma probably used! It’s all natural and cheap. The acetic acid in vinegar works as a natural herbicide by drawing moisture out of the leaves. In fact, it’s an all-around plant killer that doesn’t differentiate between weeds and your lovely rose garden. So, be sure to spray it only on the leaves of weeds.

Make An Herbicide Soap

This is one sudsy cleanup the weeds won’t like! Mix equal parts of dish soap, salt and vinegar. Put it in a spray bottle and splash those suckers in a spray of deadly mist. The salt and vinegar will dry out the plant, while the dish soap acts as a binder to make sure the stuff will stick to the leaves. Make sure the mist doesn’t touch other plants, or they too will fall prey to the deadly mist.

Weed Torch

This is one bonfire party the weeds won’t be happy to be invited to! A weed torch works by boiling the cells from the inside out. However, there’s no need to go overboard and char them!

Dust Them With Cornmeal

If you sprinkle cornmeal in your garden, it will prevent the weed seeds from germinating. But, be sure the plants you want to grow are already well on their way, as cornmeal works on all types of seeds, even the ones you want to grow!

They Are Goners

There’s no end to the many ways you can kill garden weeds. Whether you want to bathe them in hot water or put a nice comfy layer of mulch on top of them, the end result is always the same. Bye-bye weeds!

They Line Up For A Race, Now Keep Your Eye On The Dog On The Left

Competitive Family Of Dachshunds Line Up For The Big Race

When this family sparked an idea to hold a dachshund race, it became the Olympics of dachshund water sports. These pups compete with all their might as they swim to the finish line. They line up, and you can tell these little mini dachshunds are anticipating a good time, as Snoopy is already paddling his paws before he even gets in the water!

Pay careful attention to the introduction of the competitors. First, we have Penny, an especially small mini dachshund, and Valarie, the ‘blonde bombshell,’ lovingly titled for both her light-colored fur, and well. . .her intelligence. Next we have Rupert, a female dachshund nicknamed ‘Ruby,’ and long-haired Zeus. Last of all is Snoopy – you won’t want to take your eye off of him! These five dachshunds and their owners are an absolute hoot and got everyone at the pool laughing out loud. This family must know their dogs well as they placed their bets on the winning dachshund. With all of the fun they have with their dogs, we can see this dachshund race becoming regular fun at the pool.

Started With A Text

Brothers Deorick and Dennis Williams were sitting at home when they received a text message from a number that wasn’t saved on either of their cell phones.
The message announced, with excitement, that the baby was on the way and the mother was about halfway dilated. Instead of ignoring the obviously accidental message, the fun young men decided to reply back and congratulate the happy family!

Another One

It turns out the creator of the group message was the soon-to-be grandmother, Teresa Lashley, and her messages didn’t stop there! Just a few hours later, the boys received another text from the happy grandmother sharing that the baby was born and was a healthy 7 pounds, 11 ounces.

Deorick replied again and told them that he and his friends were on the way to the hospital to celebrate with her son-in-law and daughter, Mark and Lindsey Knox, in person!

Following Through With Their Promise

Sure enough, Deorick and Dennis arrived at the hospital with a gift for the handsome newborn baby, Cason! Teresa was shocked that the boys actually showed up and shared her gratitude for the boys on Facebook.

“What a blessing these two guys were to our family. They were so sweet and kind to do this! You two are great guys and thank you for giving to someone you didn’t know!”
