18 Breathtaking Action Shots Taken with a GoPro Camera

Ever had a problem capturing action shots with your camera? Not if you’re using GoPro. This company makes small, wearable, waterproof and shockproof cameras. Beloved by professional skiers, cyclists, skydivers and surfers it also suits the needs of everyday people because it’s affordable and easy to use.

Nick Woodman, the founder of GoPro, said he was inspired to start the company after his surfing trip to Australia in which he was hoping to capture quality action photos of his surfing, but couldn’t, because amateur photographers could not get close enough, or obtain quality equipment at accessible prices.

Only a week ago the company presented their latest model – the Wi-Fi enabled HD HERO 3. To promote the camera they also released a 5-minute video that will raise your blood pressure to the maximum and just make you want to chase adventures.

Enjoy this series of crazy action shots taken by GoPro athletes and fans, watch the video in the end and then do it yourself.

RGB Murals Use Colored Light Filters To Create Beautiful Optical Illusions

Carnovsky is a creative duo comprised of two Milan based artists, Francesco Rugi and Silvia Quintanilla. Their latest project RGB looks at image creation through a new lens. Each of the RGB images are made up of three layers represented by primary colors.

This starting image is discombobulating and difficult to read. Lines blend together into a rainbow swirl and it’s hard to grasp exactly what you are meant to be seeing. But by applying different primary colored filters to the room, using either filtered lightbulbs or transparent material, a different color in the mural will “pop” and rise to the surface, distinguishing a unique layer from the others. The images revealed are anatomical drawings of the human body or old scientific drawings of animal and plant life, each rising and receding into the foreground depending on the colors at play.

This installation totally reminds us of those graphics on the back of cereal boxes of yesteryear. Thank goodness we don’t have to wait around anxiously for the magic decoder ring to arrive in the mail.

Italian artist Dito Von Tease is known for his incredible finger portraits, and he’s back for another round of characters in a series he calls Ditology.

The name of the project derives from the Italian meaning of Dito, which translates to Finger in English. The portraits basically use fingertips as the canvas for facial details of many different famous figures including Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, A-Team member Mr. T, Disney star Mickey Mouse, McDonad’s mascot Ronald McDonald, and a whole lot more. Check out some of the finger art characters after the jump.

MODERN DAY MUSCLES: REALISTIC POPEYE BY LEE ROMAO

No matter what your age, chances are you know exactly who Popeye the Sailor is. Created by Elzie Crisler Segar, this fictional cartoon character has appeared in everything from comic strips to television, and has been doing so since 1929.

With Genndy Tartakosvsky to direct the upcoming 3D CG version of Popeye, we thought it fitting to take a look at this amazing modern day interpretation of Popeye. Created by artist Lee Romao, the artwork is nothing short of badass. Popeye’s muscular frame right down to his freakishly huge forearms are intact, including the anchor tattoos found on both arms. The facial expression is also right on point, and who could forget Popeye’s iconic pipe always hanging out the side of his mouth, and the titled sailor hat to finish off the look. We doubt the CG Popeye form will end up looking this version, but we think some solid inspiration can be drawn from the artwork seen below.

How to Take Responsibility for Your Life

I want to tell you a little story.

There once was a girl with shiny eyes, wit and a great sense of justice for she had been mistreated for most of her life. The hurt, the anger, the disappointment in the world – she tried to hide it all away. But the older the girl got, the more difficult it became. The more silent she became, the more extreme her rage got. Finally, she stood still, neither moving forward nor backward. She stood and stood and stood and looked as people kept passing by, not looking, not noticing for all of them had an agenda, a life.
Many years later, more tormented than ever, the girl, now grown into a woman, finally woke up.

Time stopped standing still, and she placed one foot in front of the other.

And slowly, very slowly, she learned to let go of her hurt and anger, forgive and take her life into her own hands. That little girl, if you haven’t guessed so already (and you all have, I am sure), was me.

I cannot even begin to describe how long I played the blame game, how long I made my brother responsible for everything that was going wrong in my life.

And while it is true that he has done an incredible amount of damage to my body and my soul…

… I shouldn’t have held on to the past so very long.

We all have our cross to bear.

Nobody goes through life without getting some scars, without experiencing some disappointments, hurt feelings or more. But it is up to us to stop adopting the victim mentality and instead take responsibility for our life.

If you are dreaming of getting a promotion, then think about how you can make yourself more useful in the coming months.

What training do you need to get more qualified? Which mentor could you consult for some advice? Which personal connections could you cultivate that might improve your chances of getting a better position?

Your boss is not responsible for your career. It’s up to you to do the work.

If you’d like to leave your past behind and finally free yourself from it, you will have to work on yourself every single day.

Are you ready to move to a different part of your country or even to a different continent like I did?

Are you willing to start all over again?

Are you ready to let go of whatever it is you are clinging to?

Are you dedicated enough to make this effort?

Have you been let go and can’t stop blaming all your current problems on your former employer?

Wake up, refresh your mind and get creative.

Don’t dwell on what could or couldn’t have been but take action right here and right now.

Your boss won’t benefit from you blaming him or her for what has happened to you. Instead, your life will be even worse because you can’t move on.

Are you constantly eating junk food and blame it on all the problems you face in your life? Are you short of breathwhenever you move but don’t do anything against it?

You know you are headed down a dangerous path but can’t seem to find the help you need in order to get back on track.

There is always a possibility to get back into a workout routine and to eat more consciously. But if you keep finding excuses, if you keep postponing this possibility until tomorrow, your health and your life will deteriorate.

The bitter truth – and the awesome opportunity it gives you – is that nobody will do your work or live your life. It’s in your own hands to create your life’s best outcome, to build the career you desire, to have the relationships you value and to be your best you.

You have the power to achieve these goals.

You just have to wake up, take the necessary steps and then rock the world.

Whatever responsibility it is you are not accepting, here are four easy ways to help you embrace it:

  1. Identify your areas of senseless blame. Be very honest and stop deluding yourself. This only makes your situation worse.
  2. Brainstorm about possible solutions. Write down every idea coming to your mind that might help you to move forward with your life. Just let your thoughts flow and don’t judge your ideas right away. You can edit them later.
  3. Create an action plan. Now that you have gathered some ideas, it should be manageable to devise actions to get you out of your situation.
  4. Implement the plan. Don’t stop after you’ve written down your action steps but implement them. Do the actual work to finally start moving forward again.

Take responsibility for your problems and your past, even if they were not your fault.

Own it and work with it.

That way, you can and will improve your situation a whole lot faster and better.

7 Everyday Mistakes That Turn Your Life from Heaven to Hell

Are you stuck?

Does it feel like you deserve something better, but nothing is happening?

You’re not alone.

Many are waking up to the fact that the life they’re living isn’t what they want.

They are realizing that they can do what they love and enjoy life to the fullest.

The same is true for you.

You’re reading this article for a reason.

So pay close attention to the seven mistakes below.

1. Thoughts

Your thoughts control your life.

The thoughts you give power to, determine how you feel and how you see the world. In reality, thoughts are nothing but suggestions that pop up from nowhere.

They come and go.

Yet when we get a scary thought, we believe it. We start analyzing, worrying and trying to prevent disaster, when there is nothing to prevent.

If you observe your thoughts without getting involved, you allow them to pass. Many of them will try to lure you in, but just keep breathing.

Most of your worries, fears, and uncertainties come from you. You create them. They don’t actually exist. And this brings us to the second mistake.

2. Dreaming

You can do what you love.

You can have the life you want. I’m not just here to give you a pep-talk. I’m here to shake you out of the imaginary shackles you’ve put yourself in. Many of my readers and clients come to me with a dream.

But that dream is impractical. They think they have to have or be something before they can take action toward that dream, but nothing ever stands in your way, except you.

Throw away your excuses. Throw away your reasons why you can’t do something. Start today. Ask yourself: what can I do right now that makes my heart sing?

3. Control

You can’t change other people. They have their own life to live. If you try to control or change anyone, you’ll end up wasting your energy.

I did this for many years.

And believe me, I really tried to change people. I tried to “help” them. But helping someone doesn’t come from changing them, it comes from changing you.

When you change, you become an example of what is possible. When you stop trying to change others, you can start tochange your life. You can start to move toward what really matters to you. And if some friends fall away because of this, then so be it.

4. Lack of Focus

Do you know what you want?

Most people don’t. And I’m not saying you have to be crystal clear about what you want, but you do have to have some kind of goal.

It can be anything, but it has to be something that propels you forward.

But just having focus is not enough, you also need action.

5. Lack of Action

You have to be willing to take action even if you’re confused.

You will be scared, overwhelmed and worried, but you have to keep moving forward.

You can’t figure things out if you don’t take action. It’s not through mental aerobics that you’ll get the perfect life, but through taking action.

Always.

Move.

Forward.

If you take nothing else from this article, then let it be that.

6. Irresponsibility

And above all, you have to take responsibility for your life.

No one owes you anything. If your life isn’t the way you want it to be, you alone have to power to change it.

And yes, there may be circumstances in your life that cannot be changed, but there is always something you can do. If you choose to do nothing, then that is your choice.

But nothing happens until you take responsibility for your life. You can whine and complain, but it won’t change a thing.

I know that.

You know that.

7. Refusal to Listen

Last, but not least, you have to be willing to trust yourself. Whenever we lose touch with what we want, we become depressed, stuck, and life feels meaningless.

Stop listening to anyone but yourself. In the end, you have to make the decision about what you want to do, and who you want to become. Follow your heart.

Where do you want to go next?

What do you really want to do?

It’s time to stop fooling yourself and take action.

Are you ready?
